Alerion is best described as a Female Fronted Progressive Metal band. We combine Female Fronted vocals, with a guitar-oriented, heavy and melodic sound. Contrary to what one might expect, Alerion does not play gothic metal. Our base is in Utrecht, The Netherlands.

November 17th: Looking for a keyboardist

Alerion is looking for a new keyboardist to join the band on stage and to add keyboard parts to new material. Naturally, we are looking for someone who likes our music and would like to contribute to it. Some of our songs can be heard on this website through the music section. Alerion is based in Utrecht, Holland.

November 16th: Paul & Alerion part ways - Some time ago our keyboardist Paul Bouman decided, in consultation with the rest of us, to leave Alerion. Musically our differences turned out to be too great. Therefore Paul prefers to occupy himself with other matters. Fortunately, Paul will still be performing with us on the next couple of gigs, while we start looking for a successor.
We want to thank Paul for his contributions on our promo Turn of Fate and his efforts during the recording process. However, we will not bid him farewell, as we'll be seeing him around for some time. ;)

July 31st: Alerion on Guitar Hero / Rock Band 2 / Frets on Fire - Always wanted to play one of our songs on Guitar Hero? Well, apparently someone wanted the same and decided to make a Frets on Fire / Rock band 2 track out of Hindsight, the opening song of our old demo Fledgling. You can download it so you can play it yourself right here. I noticed it as the creator posted a movie of him playing on YouTube. He does a great job on the Hindsight guitar solos. ;) Check it out below.

June 27th: Archeon Midsummer Fair report

Last saturday, June 20th, we played at the Archeon during the first Midsummer Fair. The stage was set in a monastery which was filled with a nice amount of people. A new song was debuted that day which received some nice reactions from the crowd. We really enjoyed the show and hope all who were there did so as well! We look forward to playing at the Archeon again. A report of the Midsummer Fair was made by Utrecht Roxx (thanks!) and can be found here. They also posted pictures of the day right here. Some pictures will appear in our own gallery soon.
Yesterday we did a show at Café de Hommel in Vlaardingen, some pictures of that will appear online as well.
June 7th: Alerion show at the Archeon Midsummer Fair on June 20th, 2009 - On June 20th, 2009, the first edition of the Midsummerfair, a Medieval / Fantasy / Gothic festival, will be organized at the Archeon in Alphen a/d Rijn, Holland. Alerion will play at the festival around 15.30h. To spice things up a bit, our setlist that day will feature a brand new song, with a nice guitar solo trade-off among other things. ;) More info can be found in the gigs section of our website.
Additionally, we will play at Café De Hommel in Vlaardingen, on June 26th and we have a show coming up in October. More dates will follow. We hope to see you all at the Midsummerfair!
March 29th: Alerion enlists new guitarist - Alerion is happy to announce the addition of guitarist Bart Lubbers to the band. After contacts with many different guitarists, Bart auditioned and joined us on January 28th. Both musically and personally, Bart is a great addition to the band. Moreover, having first picked it up in 1997, Bart knows how to handle his guitar.
We would really like to thank our original guitarist Wijb Sommer for stepping in these past many months. Not only did this enable us to continue doing gigs, it also provided us with all the time we wanted to find the right guitarist for the band. Thanks for helping us out and thanks for all the fun in the process!
February 22nd: Alerion releases new promo 'Turn of Fate' as a free download!

Alerion - Turn of Fate
As of today, our new promo Turn of Fate will be available on our website and on our various online profiles. Turn of Fate was recorded in Storm Studio and produced by Kevin Storm, known from the Female Fronted Rock / Metal band Cardamon and his project The Comeback. Turn of Fate contains the title track 'Turn of Fate', closing in on 8 minutes and molding together heavy and occasionally fast stuff with various slower and melodic parts, as well as 'Clash with Eternity', which is more subtle and features fingerpicked guitar parts.
Besides a further expansion of Alerion's sound, the promo also represents some of the sound made possible by the current line-up. The promo is available for free through our music section, giving you the chance to familiarize yourself with Alerion in 2009. Don't hesitate to share it with your friends or to spread the word to others!
